Edale CE Primary School

Cathy Spingys (Co-Opted Governor and Safeguarding/Health and Safety Lead)

I moved to Edale in 2015 after taking early retirement after over 30 years of cardiac nursing in Northampton. I have embraced the freedom to try new ventures both locally and further afield. I currently volunteer for the ambulance service as a first responder, for Age UK as a befriender and for a Manchester charity for street workers who are often drug addicts and homeless. I have also taken on various roles within the village, including secretary for the village hall, helping to organise Country day and I was instrumental in getting a defibrillator for the village. I also work a few hours a week at The Peak Centre. Any spare time is spent dog walking in the beautiful hills of Edale.

As well as the church, I feel the village school is and should be at the heart of the village. The school has the opportunity to develop the next generation which is vital whether they stay locally or move on to pastures new. I feel the children should leave with the fondest memories of school life in Edale and the best possible education for their individual needs. I have been a member of various PTAs and have been involved in the past in volunteering and fundraising for my local schools.

I can offer the school my commitment, time, enthusiasm and passion. I have worked with and led a nursing team for many years and will use these skills to help the governing body and more importantly the children of Edale.
